Aluminium Version for 6" VisesCARVESMARTTM is a complete system of dovetailed vise jaws for production and toolroom vises, allowing custom jaws to be accurately changed in seconds. This patented system replaces cap-screw-attached jaws with dovetailed jaws held by powerful clamping elements conveniently accessed from the top of the master jaw. The large dovetail provides secure custom-jaw retention. Patent no. 8,540,225. Made in USA. The aluminium Master Jaws shown here are a lower-cost version of our standard 6" alloy-steel Master Jaws. This version is suitable for continuous production with less frequent jaw changes. Made of hard-coated 6061 aluminium (versus hardened 4140 alloy steel) and machined flat and parallel within .002" (versus ground flat and parallel within .0002"). These Master Jaws do not incorporate SMART stop side-to-side location and will not accept those jaws. Use only with steel soft jaws (without the dowel pin) or with Hard Jaws. The set includes a high-quality T-Handle Hex Wrench for convenient jaw change, and four Low-Head Cap Screws for installing the Master Jaws.

Clamp Assemblies

Top View Side View CARVESMARTTM replaces cap-screw-attached jaws with dovetailed jaws held by powerful clamping elements conveniently accessed from the top of the master jaw. Vises no longer have to be opened to access the face-mounted cap screws. A Differential Speed Screw positively drives the clamp up and down at twice the rate of a cap screw, and holds it positively retracted for jaw changes.Aluminum Master Jaws have knurled stainless steel threaded inserts to engage the clamp assembly, providing smooth operation and extended thread life.
