For 8" VisesCARVESMARTTM is a complete system of dovetailed vise jaws for production and toolroom vises, allowing custom jaws to be accurately changed in seconds. One pair of master jaws accepts a wide assortment of exchangeable steel soft jaws, aluminium soft jaws, and hard jaws. This patented system replaces cap-screw-attached jaws with dovetailed jaws held by powerful clamping elements conveniently accessed from the top of the master jaw. The large dovetail provides secure custom-jaw retention. Patent no. 8,540,225. Made in USA. The Master Jaws shown here fit standard 8" Kurt vises, with each jaw incorporating three Clamp Assemblies. See Related Products below for the exchangeable jaws that match this size. Master Jaws are made of hardened 4140 alloy steel, ground flat and parallel within .0002". These jaws incorporate SMART stop, a slot-and-pin system that provides +/-.0003" side-to-side location for custom jaws when jobs repeat. The set includes a high-quality T-Handle Hex Wrench for convenient jaw change, and four Low-Head Cap Screws for installing the Master Jaws.

Clamp Assemblies

Top View Side View CARVESMARTTM replaces cap-screw-attached jaws with dovetailed jaws held by powerful clamping elements conveniently accessed from the top of the master jaw. Vises no longer have to be opened to access the face-mounted cap screws. A Differential Speed Screw positively drives the clamp up and down at twice the rate of a cap screw, and holds it positively retracted for jaw changes.

SMART stop Location

These Master Jaws incorporate SMART stop, a slot-and-pin system that provides +/-.0003" side-to-side location of custom jaws when jobs repeat. A precise vertical slot in the Master Jaw mates with a dowel pin in the custom jaw. Larger Master-Jaw sizes have two slots, to accommodate flippable jaws.
