For outer diameter (OD) cylindrical grinding or reciprocating surface grinding, use 3M Vitrified Grinding wheels 33VH. The vitrified bonded grinding wheels contain a mix of pink colored pure aluminum oxide and mono crystalline aluminum oxide grains, providing a much harder combination of abrasives than standard white aluminum oxide grits. These minerals are strong, but also offer a medium friability and cool cutting effect resulting in a long lasting and consistent abrasiveness. They're ideal for grinding specific materials such as hardened steel with hardness>63 HRc and high tensile strength, hardened acid and heat resistant steel, stainless steel, high speed steel (HSS) or cast steel materials.
