Product Information
2200 psi max Double Acting Swing Clamps utilize a sturdy helical-cam mechanism to swing the clamping arm clear for unrestricted loading. The Mini Swing Clamps shown here are extremely small, economical Swing Clamps with relatively low clamping force, making them particularly suitable for tight spaces and thin-walled workpieces. These Swing Clamps are useful alternatives to air-powered clamps because they require much less space. Arm can be mounted to start its 90 Degree swing from any position within 360 Degree. Threaded-cartridge clamps are designed specifically for space-saving manifold mounting. An optional top-flange adaptor allows cartridge mounting a bored hole without threads, and an optional mounting block allows simple installation with standard fittings. Available in one clamp size, double acting only, with a choice of clockwise, counterclockwise, or zero Degree swing. Also available with 45 Degree and 60 Degree swing angles. Clamping force at 2200 psi with standard clamping arm: 135 Lbs (0 series)
Application Information
Clamping Action
Available with clockwise, counterclockwise, or zero Degree swing Swing Clamps are pull-type cylinders where part of the total stroke is used to swing the piston, and the remaining stroke is available as the clamping range. Applying fluid pressure to the A (clamping) port swings arm 90 Degree over workpiece then clamps down. Switching pressure to the B (unclamping) port positively lifts arm then swings it back 90 Degree for loading/unloading.
Design Considerations
Due to their small size, these Swing Clamps do not have overload protection; therefore the swing motion must not be restricted in any way. Be sure to adjust the contact bolt so that the clamp completes its full swing stroke and starts its clamping stroke before contacting the workpiece. To be safe, use low operating pressure during initial setup. Do not exceed maximum fluid flow rate in table. For extended clamp life a simple flow-control valve may be required if the fixture is powered by a high-flow-rate power source and only contains a few clamps. Clamping time should be at least one second.
Mounting & Fluid Supply
Installation using threaded-cartridge manifold mounting. Installation in a bored hole with optional Top-Flange Adaptor for manifold mounting. Optional Mounting Block allows installation with standard fittings. Screw clamp into fixture up to the body hex. Threaded-cartridge clamps have O-ring seals on their outside diameter, so they require a precision mounting hole. Carefully follow hole-preparation instructions in the drawings. Fluid passages must be drilled exactly as shown in the drawings. Do not use NPT fittings. Optional Top-Flange Adaptor allows manifold mounting with a simpler, bored mounting hole with no thread. Optional Mounting Block allows installation with standard fittings and requires no mounting-hole preparation by the user (fasten to the fixture with two socket-head cap screws).
Clamping Arm
Standard Clamping Arm Pivoting Clamping Arm Dimensions for Custom Clamping Arm Order clamping arm separately (clamping arm includes a contact bolt and locking screw). Install using the socket-head cap screw and washer furnished with the clamp, then tighten the locking screw at the desired arm orientation. Optional pivoting clamping arm allows clamping with minimum deformation (requires installing a rear support which is furnished with the clamping arm).
