Equipped with a waterproof polyester backing and proprietary 3M microreplication technology, 3M Trizact PSA film disc 268XA is specially designed for polishing and finishing applications.
The Difference Is in the Construction3M Trizact PSA film disc 268XA features a polyester backing, because it is water-resistant and can be run wet or dry. This disc is commonly used for damp sanding on a variety of substrates, including acrylic products, solid surface materials, and glass. Using a lubricant like water helps the disc run cool and wash away debris that could warp or discolor the substrate. Depending on the project or application, 3M Trizact PSA film disc 268XA typically is used during the middle of a sequence to help bring the workpiece one step closer to the matte, semi-gloss or high gloss finish desired. While it may be run damp, the disc requires little water for effective results.
3M Trizact PSA film disc 268XA uses 3M microreplication technology to produce an engineered surface of patterned, microscopic, three-dimensional structures resembling pyramids. While conventionally coated abrasives often have erratically spaced mineral, Trizact abrasives focus on uniformity. As pyramids wear, fresh, sharp mineral is exposed to produce a consistent cut and a predictable, fine finish. Altogether, this means fewer scraps and discards as a consequence of inconsistent results. Ongoing sharp cutting action minimizes the need to incorporate other abrasives in the sequence, thereby reducing processing steps and enhancing productivity.
PSA AttachmentThe pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) on the back of 3M Trizact PSA film disc 268XA helps facilitate easy disc to tool attachment. Attaching them to a disc pad is as simple as pressing on a sticker. The PSA disc can be peeled off of the disc pad just as easily, leaving a clean surface for the next disc. Disc rolls offer the convenience of quickly tearing off a disc and eliminate the need to remove individual disc liners. PSA discs are used in conjunction with a PSA or 3M Stikit backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a random orbital sander.
Great Versatility3M Trizact PSA film disc 268XA is available in a range of grades A5 to A35, so operators can choose the right grade for their unique application; the lower the A-grade, the finer the grade. So, operators should select a smaller grade, like A5, for a fine finish and a larger grade, like A35, for a coarser finish. Discs are color-coded by grade, to reduce the risk of mistakenly selecting the wrong grade in a sequence. Regardless of the grade selected, operators can rely on great performance with this 3M Trizact disc - using it as a go-to abrasive for fast cutting action and consistent finishes, part after part.
